FoxSports.com is the hub for national and regional sports content and events. Prior to its current video-only format, I worked on several additional redesigns, including the first responsive web redesign in 2013.

A completely modular redesign

A completely modular redesign

In 2017, there was a sudden shift to a strategy that emphasizes video and our television personalities. Our goal was to come up with a layout that would best showcase our videos while also giving content editors the freedom to curate custom collections.

From Fox Box to score strip

From Fox Box to score strip

We introduced the Fox Box with our first redesign, a widget that sat in the right rail. When conceived, we had imagined it to be a dynamic panel that you could expand and close. The experience was stunted due to technical limitations. Instead of opening a panel, the user was taken to a new page. Over the years, we gradually transitioned to a more contemporary score strip design.

Rethinking navigation

Rethinking navigation

During the original redesign, we were asked to create a simplified navigation where everything would fall under four buckets: Sports, Watch, Fantasy, and More. As expected, this version was short-lived because the sports were too buried. The next version listed out the top sports while keeping the other categories in their respective buckets. As we moved to a more video-focused site, we changed our navigation to feature Shows.
